Post-Traumatic Stress Response and Appendicitis in Children—Clinical Usefulness of Selected Biomarkers
نویسندگان
چکیده
Acute appendicitis is an inflammatory process which one of the most frequent global causes surgical interventions in children. The goal study was to determine whether acute phase proteins, that is, C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT) and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), interleukin 6 (IL-6), transforming growth factor-beta1 (TGF-β1) cortisol (HC) play a role pathomechanism post-trauma stress response organism establish impact applied procedure and/or inflammation on their concentrations. An additional purpose clinical usefulness studied biomarkers diagnostics appendicitis. CRP concentrations were quantified via immunoturbidimetric method, while levels IL-6 PCT assessed using bead-based multiplexed immunoassay system microplate format (Luminex xMAP technology); NGAL, TGF-β1 determined enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. All investigated assayed twice, i.e., immediately before surgery 12–24 h after its completion. Significant increases CRP, found all children subjected laparoscopic surgeries (p = 0.001, p 0.006, 0.009, respectively) open (classic) 0.016, 0.044, compared initial patients undergoing classical moreover presented with significant 0.002, 0.022, NGAL procedures. In group surgery, induced increase concentration, whereas this biomarker caused by type performed procedure. Simultaneously assaying 0.008, 0.000, may prove useful practice, enabling diagnosis paediatric reporting hospital abdominal pains, addition data from anamnesis or ultrasound examination. confirms participation examined post-injury reaction trauma.

Traumatic Events Exposure and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Caregivers of Patients with Bipolar Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and Comorbid Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Multiple Sclerosis
Background: Chronic diseases affect the lives of the patient and caregiver. Caring for a patient with a chronic psychiatric illness, such as bipolar disorder, is a stressful and challenging activity. Caregivers of severe psychiatric patients are the primary victims of violence by patients. Caring for these patients can be very stressful for the caregiver to the extent of experiencing post-traum...

Post traumatic stress disorder, a special disease that also accompanies with histological changes such as inflammation. In this paper we decided to review the relation between PTSD and inflammation. Stressful events causes immune system dysfunction by suppressing natural killer cells and altering levels of cytokines. Also in this condition, cytotoxic T lymphocytes results in under strained pro-...

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a disorder of emotional and mental stress occurring as an outcome of injury or severe emotional shock. Several Neuroimaging studies in humans have shown the functions and relationship between the anatomical changes of brain and PTSD. The three major areas of the brain are affected by PTSD .These three areas are the amygdala, hippocampus and prefrontal cor...
